Emessa (known now as Homs) is an ancient city in the middle of Syria dating back to the year 2300 B.C, and was known in Roman times as Emessa, which contained a great temple of the sun god El Gebal (Aramaic; Latin: Elagabalus; Greek: Heliogabalus).

Emessa was ruled by a line of priest-kings throughout the Roman Empire, and two of its nobility rose to become emperors, Elagabalus and Severus Alexander who ruled Rome from 193 to 211. Lots of the Romainan leaders where raised in Emessa. Four Emessa women became Roman Empresses; Julia Domna, Julia Maesa, Julia Mammea and Julia Soemia. Julia Domna the daughter of a high priest of Emessa was a smart beautiful lady, she was married to Septimius Severus, He later became emperor of Rome. When he was transferred to Rome he took some black rocks from Emessa, and since then Emessa got the name "the city of the black rocks".

Aurelian (reigned AD 270-275) made the town his headquarters and there defeated Queen Zenobia of Palmyra. Emessa's fortunes were always tied with the trade city of Palmyra, As long as Palmyra flourished so did Emessa. When Zenobia was defeated at Palmyra in about 272 AD, Emessa declined. The ancient Emessa ruins are now buried beneath Homs city.

Emessa the ancient name that meant greatness and civilization; the art in architecture; the nickname of roman majesty gave us a motive to adopt it. Our goal was to gain its unique heritage tracing its brilliant success, and involving its charm brightness in the colors of our lives.

WHY COLOR YOUR BUSINESS

Take a walk down a supermarket and look at the enormous array of products. A detergent's orange and yellow swirls promise a tornado of cleaning power. Hundreds of soup cans stand at attention like an army, wrapped in red and white labels wearing a world-famous signature.

A company with ten different types of pasta packages their products in bright blue cardboard boxes with see-through windows each one a mini billboard that describes the contents and tells the company story in an instant.

If these descriptions prompted you to think of some brands you've already known then the company branding is achieving its desired recognition factor.

Afterwards, go out and look at the billboards that beckon to you from all around. Notice the colorful graphics that are blown up much larger than life on the side of building, sometimes six stores high. Or simply open a magazine or turn on your television and you'll recognize a common theme to the advertisements, all of them have an identifiable "signature" a graphic that means instant recognition.

Adidas, BMW, MasterCard, Hertz, Boss, Seiko...they're all different but they all have one thing in common, a very familiar trademark. We in Emessa have chosen “COLOR YOUR BUSINESS” as a slogan to adopt in communicating with our clients. With creative and innovative approach, we offer our clients, not only an excellent printing job, but what ultimately turns into a real masterpiece.

WHY LADYBIRD

*

Did you ever see a little red and black beetle crawling along your window sill? It was probably a lady beetle or ladybird. Ladybirds are among the first to appear in the spring. The wonderful contrast of black and red color of the ladybird gave them an attractive appearance which has contributed to the generally good opinion of them held by most people.

Most species of lady beetles are among the most beneficial clean insects as they consume huge numbers of plant feeding insects mostly aphids. Ladybird has some interesting means of protection. Their red and black coloration warns birds that they would not make a very tasty meal. Birds learn that insects that are red and black usually taste bad and hence they leave them alone. They also will “play dead” when in danger.

Ladybirds are very popular around the world, in Irish the insect is called “good little cow”. In France it is called “The good Lord’s animal”, and in Russia “God’s little cow”. In parts of Northern Europe, traditions say that one’s wish granted if a ladybird lands on oneself. In other parts of the world, children capture a ladybird, make a wish, and then “blow it away” back home to make the wish come true. In Italy, it is said by some that if a ladybird flies into one's bedroom, it is considered good luck. In Europe, a ladybird crawling across a girl’s hand is thought to mean she will get married within the year. In most cultures they are referred to as LUCKY BUGS.

WHY RED AND BLACK

Choosing the right color is the first step in any act you do in life. The first thing you think about in the morning is what color you will dress up for work… will you have a business meeting so you will choose a dark blue suit with a stripe blue shirt and a silver tie speckled with small purple squares for more contrast, or maybe you will have an outdoor meeting so it is ok with a canary t-shirt and a blue jeans. You feel you want to add a chic feeling to your living room… a dusty lilac couch will do the job. One of the most important decisions when buying a car is the color. You rush out of cities to opened spaces where you see green hills; gray mountains; wide blue seas.

In Emessa we chose red and black because they have a typical bold combination, they are widely used in fashion, interior design, products design, and visual media.

Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. It has very high visibility, which is why stop signs, stoplights, and fire equipment are usually painted red. In heraldry, red is used to indicate courage. It is a color found in many national flags. Red brings text and images to the foreground. Use it as an accent color to stimulate people to make quick decisions; it is a perfect color for 'Buy Now' or 'Click Here' buttons on Internet banners and websites. In advertising, red is often used to evoke erotic feelings (red lips, red nails, red-light districts, 'Lady in Red', etc). Red is widely used to indicate danger (high voltage signs, traffic lights). This color is also commonly associated with energy, so you can use it when promoting energy drinks, games, cars, and items related to sports and high physical activity.

Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, and mystery. Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown (black holes). Black denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a very formal, elegant, and prestigious color (black tie, black Mercedes). In heraldry, black is the symbol of grief. Black gives the feeling of perspective and depth, but a black background diminishes readability. A black suit or dress can make you look thinner. When designing for a gallery of art or photography, you can use a black or gray background to make the other colors stand out. Black contrasts well with bright colors. Combined with red or orange – other very powerful colors – black gives a very aggressive color scheme.
